Fort Drum, N.Y. — Military officials at Fort Drum say the Army's 10th Mountain Division and local emergency response agencies will be conducting a mass casualty exercise.

Emergency personnel from neighboring Jefferson and St. Lawrence counties will participate in Wednesday's drill at the northern New York military post located near Watertown.

Fort drum officials say the full-scale scale exercise is based on two aircraft involved in a midair collision. The scenario calls for emergency crews and soldiers to respond to one of the aircraft landing safely and the other crashing into a field.

The exercise is aimed at testing the North Country's emergency response capabilities and coordination with various emergency medical teams and hospitals.
